Tulsi Vivah, the celestial wedding of Tulsi (also known as Vrinda) and Shaligram Bhagwan (the stone form of Lord Vishnu), brought divine fervor and joy to Vadtal Dham – Shri Swaminarayan Temple, Wheeling, IL on Sunday, November 13th. This sacred wedding ceremony holds immense significance in Hindu mythology, symbolizing the union of the sacred Tulsi plant, representing purity and devotion, with Lord Vishnu, the Supreme deity. Every year, different individuals have the privilege of taking on the roles of the parents of the bride and groom in this celestial union. The celebration commenced with zeal and enthusiasm, with Garba (traditional Gujarati dance) and Mehndi (henna application) ceremonies held on the previous day, Saturday, November 12th. The joyous rituals continued with the Pithi ceremony, where the bride and groom are anointed with a paste made from turmeric, symbolizing purification and blessings. Grah Shanti, the ritual of seeking celestial blessings for the newlyweds, followed, ensuring harmony and happiness in their married life. The joyous occasion continued with the Varghodo & Mameru, the arrival of the wedding procession, and the exchange of auspicious gifts.

The festivities culminated with the distribution of mahaprasad, the sacred food offering blessed by the divine presence, to all the devotees present, spreading the joy and blessings of the celestial wedding to all.
